Does anyone know of any information out there like a 'how to' guide about how to put on a one day show?

We're organising a one day fun show at our yard, just for the liveries but I'm wondering if we need to get special insurance or St Johns Ambulance onsite, where we stand legally as organisers, etc???

We're not doing anything too crazy, just a bit of clear round jumping, gymkahna, dressage test and fancy dress class but i just want to know what we should and more importantly shouldn't do.

Thanks

You should really have some sort of insurance cover but you don't necessarily need St Johns Ambulance or Medical personel brought in if you have someone on your yard who has had adequate First Aid Training. I was on a committee for a local show & I had recveived training from my company as several others had, that was deemed adequate so we managed to keep costs down that way. If an ambulance would have been needed then it was only a phone call away.

I think it would be unwise to go ahead without insurance.....give someone like NFU or similar a call & they will be able to advice you the cover you would need & the cost. Good Luck

Thanks for that.

We were going to get insurance of some sort but I just can't find any info on the web to help me.

A friend advised me that if you don't have St John's onsite then if you contact your nearest Fire and Ambulance stations and let them know you're putting on a show so in case you do get any accidents they're prewarned about you. Also, sending them a map with where you are is a good idea.
