Thinking ahead (foal is due middle of May), I'm considering getting a warming lamp for foal's first few hours. Foaling box is 24' x 14' so if I put it on the ceiling, it's unlikely to be in the right place. Anyone got any suggestions on how to put up a moveable one? Or any other suggestions for warming foal as these lamps seem pretty expensive for something only to be used for a few hours (hopefully). TIA.

I had a foal born outside beginning of May when unexpectedly there was a white frost. Foal was absolutely fine, mare was cold and had to be rugged. Foal got named Frost as she was a few spot and all white. It would have to be a very poorly foal to need extra heat.

Okay, thanks everyone. That's lots of money saved then! I was just thinking if foal came early, it could be April and I've known cold Aprils with snow in the past.
