As you all know rocks has breathing problems - listening to him today he sounded very nasally and had very laboured breathing. The vet has suggested an inhalor which i will try him with BUT i seem to remember someone on here saying they had a spray which they sprayed up each nostril which opened the airways - but i forget who it was or what the spray was called?
Are they the same thing, are they different and if so whats the name of the nasal spray?
Also any experience of either or other suggestions hugely welcome!
Thanks xx

It was Patches the horse who had the biggest problems with the inhaler. She thought it was going to kill her! ***rolls eyes***

I just had a normal child's volumatic inhaler. I stuck the infact attachment to it and held it over one nostril whilst closing off the other. We sprayed the medicine into the chamber before putting it anywhere near her as she hated the noise of the inhalers being sprayed.

Only managed to use it for a couple of days..with a twitch and someone hold a foot up! After that she just reared repeatedly when we approached her with it. Thankfully, however, she didn't need it anymore.

I've just spotted the numerous howlers, grammatically in my original reply. We did of course have an infant attachment on the inhaler....not an infact! LOL

I had the EXACT same problem with Corroy, she tried to double barrell me, even if you just made the spary noise in her stable she turned her bum to you and shook her head up and down. After hanging off her a few times and getting swumg round the stable I gave up. Strangely this is a horse you can fly spray between her ears etc. Soooo instead I had to pay for Ventipulmin

there is hope, i promise!
My boy was the same and the inhaler was horse eating to say the least. Has taken at least 3 months of hard work, but i started with it on his nose doing nothing - wow did he pull. then after 1 week progressed to getting it in the chamber and on to the nose to breath in. had to puff away from him. after another few weeks puffed next 2 him getting nearer, then on nose - few weeks later, puff once on nose and take off. he was always rewarded for this good behaviour with a carrot. can now puff on nose without a head collar on and can even close other nostril - was the final stage. Wiz takes beclonase ( excuse spelling) and is now doing much better.

This did take lots of patience and i'm nit sure my arm has ever been the same,
