Hi all, In June I am planning to do a little inhand showing with my boy. He is all sorted, inhand bridle, chain, velvet browband etc. But I have NO idea what I should be wearing. Obviously its showing so most judges have their own opinion on what is 'correct' but are there any essentials or big no nos? I was told I HAD to wear tweed for an inhand class, I only own a black show jacket. Also I was told I HAVE to have long boots. My ones for around the yard, which are the only long ones I own are defo not in showing condition! I don't really fancy spending huge money. I do need new long boots anyway so that may be an excuse to get new ones! Also, I was told I need a scrunchie in my hair, which I have always been told is a big no unless you are 5 years old!.

Any advice would be appreciated
Homemade choc chip cookies on offer :P

What type of horse are you showing?
I show M & M's and were black trousers (pony has white socks) White shirt with tie and waist coat. If its cold i swap my waist coat for a tweed hacking jacket. Shoe wise i were trainers or walking boots, as you need to be able to run well to show your horses full potential in trot.

Hi I'm another newbie to showing and all my knowledge has been gained from this forum so worth doing some searching. I was told contrast the colour of your trousers with your horse's legs ie: dark horse/light trousers. Tweed jacket, cream shirt, tie, velvet hat. Having been showing now a couple of times there is a lot of variety and waistcoats in particular are very popular. Think tack is meant to be plain - brown, also cane & gloves brown. Good luck above all have fun, give it a go and you can always make changes as to what seems to go down well locally!

I'm showing a 16hh bay TB in a Large breeds open class. So, light coloured trousers and short jod boots would be ok? I may need to invest in a tweed if it correct to wear it.
