I am taking a very small coloured shetland in an inhand fancy dress class and i was wondering on ideas of costume ive got until the 27th to get my costume ready!!

I used to always win when i was small (8 ish) on my sec A. She was ridden but i always went as a Handy pony! I was dressed as a horse with a cardboard head and a woolen tail. The pony (bless her) used to have cardboard letter D and Hands stuck all over her with sellotape. My friend went to a lead rein fancy dress recently as a Carousel horse. her little girl wore a long party dress, the pony has a cardboard pole out of the saddle and he had his legs painted lillac and pink.

My friend did her Shetland up as the mad hatters tea party, table cloth drapped over his back, with plastic cups saucers and plates, he had bunny ears etc and she dressed as Alice, she also ropped her kids in as various other chracters and they got first prize, I guess if Alice is not your thing them the mad hatter would be another option for you to go as :). Good luck and pictures of your final costume choice please xx

clothes horse - if you have a rug small enough for pony, safetypin/sew lines onto it, then add items of clothing. dress yourself as an old washer woman/housewife (or shall i be pc and call it a 'domestic care provider??) and simples!

my friend did it years ago with her hackney, only they didn't have a rug to fit so she used a bedsheet cut to size, and they did quite well - cant remember what place but definitely in the top 3.

Good luck and pictures of your final choice please!

Saw last weekend a small miniture piebald dressed up as a collie dog - floppy ears etc and the leader as a shepherd complete with toy lamb under arm - looked fantastic and quite easy to do.

I saw one yesterday that were dressed up for the olympics, with the olympics logo and carrying a torch etc, looked brilliant!
