Right I Know its abit away yet (balmoral show) but as this will be our first showing class .... need tips, pointers , anything really to get me prepared .....

its the yearling class
general tidying of her mane( plaiting)
tail pulled
whiskers ? cut ?
ears trimmed
baby oil or vaseline around eye lids ? nose ?
black hoof oil
bridle path cut ?
plaited with elastics ? or thread ?
tack cleaned ?

What else ? anything , points tips ?

for yearlings (sport horse class ) is it coloured browband ? or plain ? got a clencher gold browband at the minute

never put elastic bands in always thread, dont go ott with baby oil. it will depend if all her feet are dark for the black hoof oil.
personally i'd go for a plain or fancy stitched browband.
it really depends on the judge that day i found when i was showing last year.

ahhhh .... How do you sew plaits in esp with a yearling ???? lol NIGHTMARE lol

All feet are dark

her bridle is havannah with gold brass buckles , so would the gold clencher browband be ok do you think ? ... You dont happen to live in n.ireland do you ? lol

Heres a pic of her ( not the best )

Massive nightmare sewing in plaits but they will stay better than with bands. Highlighter oil is better than baby oil if you wanna do a bit of showing. pretty much everythings pulled, trimmed or cut off for sports horses! And I would def go for the plain browband. Im not sure about the tail for a youngster as it can be all fluff but the Sports Horse Society can tell you what is expected with turnout even if you arent showing under their rules. Hope thats helpful, pm me if you wanna know more as i've just bought a sports horse would be good to swap first show dramas!!
