Hello,
Sorry, this is my first post on here and I hope I've gotten the correct section. If not, I really do apologise and feel free to tell me off and remove/move as fit :)

I have a 4 year old cob gelding and I plan on doing some inhand showing with him next year. He's blue and white (as seen from photo's below) and I've had a lot of conflicting information on what to wear for inhand? I know a Blue Tweed jacket would suit, but I'm not sure on what colour trousers/jods and foot wear?

This is my boy:

These were taken at the beginning of May, he looks different but those are the only ones I have at the moment that really show off his colouring. He's a little darker now and looks a lot better :)

I think you need to wear dark colour jods/trousers for white legs, if just local shows I would wear black jods, black boots, then what ever colour jacket! although I am no expert :)

I think the general principle is to show off horse as much as possible so, as he has pale legs you want dark legs to contrast.

So, maybe navy trousers with the blue tweed? Then brown or black boot to match whatever colour his bridle/head collar will be...

I'm not a showing type though so I'm sure you'll get more expert opinions.

Have fun!

From top to bottom

Hat (I'd advise a navy velvet riding hat for safety others wear bowlers or trilbys)

Hair in hairnet

Shirt & tie

Tweed jacket or waistcoat

Gloves brown or tan colour leather is best

Trousers opposite colour to horses legs ie dark horse legs/light colour trousers or vice versa. Navy/dark brown trousers for light legs

As for boots I find cheap hiking boots to be ideal for grip in brown. Some wear dark colour trainers or even football boots for grip

A show cane either leather or malacca finishes off the picture.

Hope this helps.

Thank you TelH and Twobearsarthur! :D

Now that shopping list really has to get bought haha! I feel he really doesn't suit brown so his tack is black, should I invest in a dark brown inhand bridle? And I'm assuming his french link snaffle is fine?

Hi there,

I'd go with the following:

Blue velvet hat or beagler, long hair in a bun, hairnet.

Shirt, navy tie, tie pin, blue tweed jacket

String or wool to tone with your jacket for your number.

Dark, navy cords,

Comfortable sturdy boots in brown or black (make sure you can run in these)

Brown show cane and brown gloves.

This isa picture of me in the above, despite my face, which is shocked and red (I couldn't believe I made it around without falling over, without Ben throwing a fit, and managed to keep up. With him:)) I think it looked quite smart.
