I'm just wondering if they would count against you, my OH would like to get a youngster to show but I think the tattoos etc might stop the judge taking him and the horse seriously
Does anyone have Any ideas/ experience of this?

Most affiliated societies have rules about the wearing of jewellary, so I imagine that he will have to remove his jewellary (piercings) as any woman would.

Would you see the tattoos once he's all kitted out? Pretty much all flesh is covered when decked out for the show ring.

Regardless, I'd like to think that judges would judge the horse infront of them, not the handler.

In an ideal world no but in this one I imagine he might yes sorry.

With piercings they talk about safety but I think in the case of tattoos they may say it spoils the overall picture.

I can cover all mine up but being judged unfairly ( no pun intended) is a risk you take when you get them in a place that can not be covered. A lot of showing judges are very traditional.

If he wears a trilby hat on top and doesn't draw attention to the tattoos you would be surprised at how few people noticed them.

Human nature tends to not see things when they don't expect them to be there.

EKW has a point - my sister has been showing with purple hair this year. It is mostly covered by her stetson style soft hat, but you can see it a little and no judge has commented or even been seen to stare!

I've got an image in my head now of a great big Hells angel clad in leather leading a little dainty Section A round a show ring now..............

The tatoos shouldn't affect the placing - they are judging the horse not the handler.

Remove all visible jewellry and if he wears a high neck shirt most of the tatoo will be hidden.
