Inhand turnout?

I would like to show my little lad inhand , well i say little, he's all of 16.3hh :D He more of a middleweight hunter type, although maybe could do with a little more bone and he's just turned 7. Theres a couple of little shows round here for inhand hunters etc which I would like to take him out to these for experience.
Im just wondering what sort of turnout we need to wear? Am thinking hunter plain bridle? Keeping everything simple? And what should I wear?

Have only ridden in classes so have no idea on inhand turnout!!

Anyone able to help please??
 
Your right on the plain bridle, brown with flat noseband and browband is best. Pelham or double. You probs wont have to wear a hat and tied back hair is good and i think it looks smart with a bun with a hairnet just over the bun part. Tweed jacket, brown showcane, tie, waistcoat, brown leather gloves. If your horse has white legs then dark trousers, if your horse has dark legs, then paler trousers. Use footwear that is easy to run in. Quarter marks for horse 2 or 3 blocks on the top of the bum with chunky sharks teeth look nice on hunters.

agree with all of the above but just to add , I think it looks neater if you do wear a hat of somekind, it doesnt have to be a strapped hat but just somthing to stop your hair blowing around in the wind !

Also if your showing him as a hunter he would be corrcet to be wearing a double/pelham. Not a set rule but adds to the "correctness" !

Just to say I would definitely wear a hat - particularly with a hunter I think it looks much better. I used to do a lot of in hand, so cut the straps off a cheap velvet hat to create the beagler effect!

One of the joys of showing a big horse in hand (mine was 16.2) is that you cannot see over the horse to see if the judge is calling you in to a placing so you have to be very alert and peer round his front the best you can.
