That is where i have to inject the wolfy pony tonight as advised by the vet.

I did the neck this morning.

Now i just had a quick look online to reassure myself that i know where to do it ( i have several times before but not for over a year) and it has thrown up horror stories about infections by injecting at that site.

Now im bricking it!

Please someone tell me otherwise.

I have done it many times and had no problems. If vet said it should be fine. Just make sure everything is kept clean.

You can read far too much, look online and you will find horror stories about everything somewhere because unfortunately people don't seem to share positive stuff so much! I do it to myself all the time, I'm amazed I haven't locked myself up by now!
I inject on the bum all the time and never had a problem, one of my old mares was prone to infection just by breathing and she never had a problem with it. As above; make sure you use a new needle each time and keep area clean.

i used to have to inject ted regularly. i used to brush the area then inject. then rub the area hard. if it had blood around the site i would pop some cream on.
never had any issues. x

You'll be fine, I had to inject my big girlie in the bum after an injury for a week and never had a problem until the last day! She started to expect it and tensed her bum. I use to brick it every time but it was fairly easy and never had any issues with infection or anything. Good luck!

I always do mine in the bottom, even for flu, we have had in the past, quite a few youngsters and adults react badly with swelling in the neck to the extent that they couldn't feed or drink by lowering their heads. I have never ever had trouble with any injection in the bottom.

I too had to inject my old mare in the bottom 14 times in a week, she was fine with the injections but had hired a hit man by the end of the week, as she wanted to kill me!!!

Just make sure you do not inject it in the rump - if you do and it becomes infected it can not drain. The correct place to inject is actually on the back of legs.

ive injected in the bum loads and never had a problem....apart from one riding school pony that tensed her bum up so much she bent the needle :O daft pony.
i usually alternate each side of the neck then each side of the bum so that by the time you are back to doing the 5th injection you havnt injected in that site for a while.
good luck but you will be fine

working in the bum is a good place because it is a big muscle always work in a triangle outline than you dont inject in the same area!
