I was bringing the cows in the other night and they stampeded a hedgehog. its face swelled up and it had a nose bleed so I settled it into a box with some food and the next day it was eating moving around, went to work (i'm a veterinary nurse) and spoke to the vet about it but hadn't taken hedgehog as its a long drive and was doing ok, vet suggested anti-biotic jab and metacam the hedgehog then started to go down hill and I was off today it hadn't eaten so I syringe fed it tonight but I think it has a fractured/ dislocated jaw :(, i'm taking it into work tomorrow but just wondered if anybody has any knowledge about this? I think it will probably end up being put to sleep but I would really be happy if we could save it and I would be happy to provide long term nursing if it would be a slow recovery.

What part of the country are you in? pm me if you prefer to remain unknown! I used to foster hedgehogs and get them through the winter when they were too underweight to hibernate. The only time I used Tiggywinkles they wouldn't give advice, only take in the animal and then they would not release it back into my care even if they only looked at it- something to do with their requirements for wild animals. Hedgehog numbers are in a serious decline so I do hope you can save this one. I was lucky to have a private charity near me who always helped and the local vet was a star - would try anything to keep them going. Wonder what you are managing to feed with the syringe - avoid milk at all costs as they cannot stomach it and it will give the hog diarrhoea. Cat or dog food that's from chicken or rabbit and some water. Good luck.
