Am feeling rather deflated at the mo and a bit cr*p! 1st Spiders injury and operation etc, that is now healing well and im back on her again so thats looking up, vet is coming to check up tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Now Dexter - as posted in weekend plans was meant to be going to Towerlands Sat with Nats_UK but Dexter was kicked (well was playing rough) weds in the field, has had antibiotics and bute and cleaning cold hosing on it. It has just taken the hair off for a few inches above the knee on the inside but where the knee bone sticks out at the side there is a deeper cut not deep enough to stitch though.

Leg is still swollen now, well the knee is mostly swollen, not sure if its because he is in (field is like a mud bath until we change sun) or if theres something more sinnister. Needless to say vet will also be seeing him tomorrow.

So I know have 2 injured ponies

Bless him.
Hugs to you, hope he and Spider recover quickly

It looks worse then it is - Majority is just where the hair has been taken off, its only the last inch that is deeper, but not even that deep. It was cleaned straightaway as well

So annoying. Thanks V will report back on injured ponies tom afternoon!

Oh no! Hope the vet is positive - if they say x-rays don't automatically assume the worst - the vets made me x-ray L when he got kicked at the end of the season, and he was absolutely fine. You're doing all the right things.

Thank you

Chin up H-J.
He may just be a "swells up when cut" type of person. I have one who is, and she is a nightmare even with the tiniest of nicks. Hopefully the vet puts your mind at rest tomorrow, and perhaps more antibiotucs (my mare has had IV tetracycline in the past). If he gives you those sachets of equitrim antibiotics, then the best of luck with getting them into him. They are huge, and taste disgusting.
Could be worse - it could be two days before your first event - that would be really serious!!!
