So my horse somehow managed to put a hole in his shoulder. I managed to leave his rug off in the day today but had to put it on tonight (he is a TB and does not have much coat or fat) but I know that it is going to irritate the hole. Any bright ideas on how to not to let it rub, tried creative bandages but its just too high up. Or does anybody near Wantage have a Horse walker rug that i could rent (6'3 would be perfect)? Thanks

The only thing I can think of is stick gamgee with duck tape to the inside of your rug where the hole would be!

Change gamgee daily!

Or you can get those horse plasters to stick on!

Good luck

Make a large 'doughnut' shape out of something, anything (ie old socks, bandages, whatever) - then put it between the rug and the shoulder, around the injury - you may want to fix it to the rug or horse to stop it moving.

Never done this but seems feasible...? It's a recognised way of bandaging a person with a protruding injury.
