Any one there ever had PLANTAR FASCIITIS on the sole of the foot? I trod on a hard object 4 weeks ago when barefoot in the dark, and have caused damage to the ligament under the foot from the heel to the ball of the foot, boy is it painful, and no treatment will help just rest it and do stretch exc on the foot. Been taking Ibuprofen for the pain and pain relief gell rubbed on the foot, Have been told several months to get better, but I still have a horse and 11 year old son to lookafter!! and work 4 days a week.
Any one had it and how long did it take to go away?

ouch - nasty!!! I'm told that ligament damage is more painful then broken bones!

The only advice I have on it, is DO EXACTLY what the doctor says! My friend stupidly did things before she should, 18 months down the line, her ligamanets are nearly non existant, she's having to have an operation to cut her ligaments and wire them back together! 50/50 odds it could go well... or bad!

Make arrangements for family and friends to help you out. Don't try to be proud and over do it! Accept help! ...and do as you are told

Healing vibes xxxx

hubby has had it - ended up having op to cut tendon/ligament off the bone.

try buying some football socks and some tights. Put football socks on and flex toes up then stitch tights to toe then stitch other end to top of sock so it holds toe up. then wear them to bed. It helps to stretch sole apparantly- also get some fantastic orthotics to go in shoes to put foot in correct postion - get them off internet.

other thing t try is put tin of beans in fridge - then take out said cold tin of beans put on floor then roll foot over it. !!!!

Trust me - ligament damage is FAR more painful than a broken bone. I know i have had all of them. Last time my horse decided to do a forward and then backward roll on me, she bust my pelvis in i dont know how many places, squished my knee so hard the cartllidge popped out - i ran around a bit, felt sick, but got back on and finished my lesson. Last week i went over on my ankle - it is black now, and strapped up and yes i cried ! and could not move for 20 mins

Ive had it!! Poor you, i had accupuncture and also went to see a sports therapist who was wonderful and did get me sorted in about 4 weeks but the treatment hurt alot!! but it was a case of no pain no gain! Use the golf ball on the floor and also try an ice pack.

I trod on the buckle of a girth (the pin was sticking up) whilst cleaning my pony's tack when I was a kid (20yrs ago??!) It went up through the sole of my foot and damaged that ligament

I have it. Doc told me to go away and lose weight. Lost 5 stone and it still hurts. 2 years now and I am crippled when I first get up from sitting down. Any slight increase in the amount of walking I do means it hurts more than usual for a week. I can't wear high heels, and I can't wear thin soled shoes - I have to wear thick soled boots (not too bad as I live in jeans or jods!). I can't walk barefoot (keep a pair of crocs close to hand!). And I can't walk or stand for long periods of time. I don't walk "normally" so my back and hips have stiffened up.

AAARGH!

Doc told me it could take up to 18 months to clear completely. That was just over a year ago, so I'm about due to go back. I was told there isn't much they can do, except steroid injections, but from what I've read on various websites, there's plenty of physio exercises and orthotics which can help.

Here's hoping yours clears up more quickly!
