Hi,
Im having a lazy Sunday afternoon so I thought Id tell you about my baby ponies and grottie dottie!
It was all a bit boring for a while as I was leading horses out to the field and 1 accidently touched the electric fence which caused about 5 seconds of mayhem which resulted in me having a few broken ribs!! A little stay in hospital made life even more boring and no riding for 2 and a bit weeks was even more so! But luckily Im all better now and the sun is still shining (for the time being at least!) so all in all it wasn't too bad!
Autumn, my grey baby pony, who was unhandled up until she arrived here about 6 weeks ago, was amazing when I got back on her, she was only backed for about a week before I was injured, I got her in, some 3 weeks later, in the almost dark, tacked her up, lunged her for 3 mins and then hopped back on! She was fine, despite not being able to see her!
She had her first little jump and was totally cool about the whole thing. You can tell that she has good Irish jump breeding as she was very neat and pingy for day 1!
A few days later she had her first jump with me on and again was totally fine about the whole process!
On to Dottie, her rehab has stopped now as I don't want her crazy fit coming into the winter. Shes just going to hack and school until after Christmas and then see where we are then. Its been over a year that we have been doing her rehab, every single day. It was the funniest thing the first day I rode her without looking at my watch or phone 20 times to check the amount of minutes we had done in each gear!! It felt like I had a normal pony back for the first time. I felt totes emotional about that ride! She is still only out in her pen as she is such an idiot in the field! I do occasionally lunge her out there to let her let off some steam, she certainly takes me up on that!!
Autumns schooling is really coming along. I am starting to love her loads and its making me feel really sad that I should think about selling her soon.
She is amazing considering she was wild and she has still only been ridden a handful of times. She makes me really smiley, which is why I think I want her to stay. It isn't really what I should do though, its the head/heart thing...
Meanwhile Belle, was less quiet about the whole having a month off thing! She was wild when I got back on! My mum, who is brave as far as mums go, wouldn't let me ride her without her being there! A few rides in and she is starting to calm down again, there is still rather a large amount of neck strap holding, leaping and tomfoolery. She is just so athletic and forward thinking, she feels amazing, even when she's being an idiot!! Luckily, she's so beautiful when she not being an idiot that I can forgive her almost anything!!
So that's mine for now! I hope everyone has had a nice Sunday
