Probably not the wisest move, checking the hindleg of a still-mounted racehorse just after he's pulled up and full of adrenaline. You'd think if it was that urgent to check him out, the jockey would have hopped off first.
 
I'm sure he was. Makes it an even better idea to check it out once he'd come down a bit. I expect it has more to do with not having a bleeding horse in front of the spectators.
