Probably not the wisest move, checking the hindleg of a still-mounted racehorse just after he's pulled up and full of adrenaline. You'd think if it was that urgent to check him out, the jockey would have hopped off first.

I saw blood on that hind leg after the race so maybe he was feeling a bit sensitive about it.

I'm sure he was. Makes it an even better idea to check it out once he'd come down a bit. I expect it has more to do with not having a bleeding horse in front of the spectators.

It's a wonder it doesn't happen more often, with the immediate post race interview with a mic on a stick, all the folks crowded in the paddock for photos, they really ought to give these horses a bit more space.

I do feel for the horses in the paddock post race when it’s so noisy and so busy.

He also kicked out when the rug was put on him. He shouldn’t have anyone near his hind end until he is calm and away from crowds he’s clearly a kicker.
