Just a bit of fun...if you work in the equestrian industry or run a horsey business, please share! Not really talking about livery yards/riding schools etc but more like retail/online/therapies/importing/tack etc etc!

I'm looking for inspiration - I have a yard (my own horses and some in for reschooling/starting plus a couple of liveries) and am also a PR consultant specialising in luxury travel. I've got a BSc in Equine Science & Business Management and am interested in doing something horsey as since moving out of London and back to the countryside I've lost interest in the travel PR lifestyle and have dedicated more and more time to horses! I'd love to do something horse related but more business related rather than mucking out and wading around in mud all day...! I thought about something like importing kit (riding wear, horse boots etc) from the US as have spent quite a lot of time out there working with horses and kept finding really cool stuff in their tack shops that we don't have over here. Just an idea for now...

Go ahead and share!

I work for the family business selling riding holidays and I love it. Really enjoy the interaction with people and organising their trip for them. Plus I get to travel around for free which is obviously a bonus. :)

We make bridle leather belts, dog collars and leads. In our 5th year and made a profit year on year. We sell worldwide via the website and have been featured in The Telegraph and the Russian edition of GQ!

We started a company manufacturing horseboxes about 6 years ago, I have been in the trade for about 20 years and going out on our own was one of the best things ive done. Its great to be able to work on all types of vehicles, both affordable and bespoke.

I have a boring "real" job during the week - and on the weekends I wash willies. Horse willies, I should specify. As far as I know, I'm the first to offer this service (at least as a specialty, not just a vet/dentist extra) in Western Australia. A couple of other people have since jumped on the bandwagon, but I seem to be the major player. This is very strange to me!
I'll never be a millionaire, I doubt I could do this full time, but I make enough extra cash on weekends to fund my own ponies. And oddly enough, I do quite enjoy it - sore back, wrist strain and all :)
