Inspired by Benponys thread the other day about riding wth your mind I have just been out for the best hack:) Im a capable and experienced rider but not overly brave and Che is a very good boy most of the time but occasionally he is a bit jumpy which makes me jumpy. He is never malicious, just enjoying himself but my biggest fear is coming off, letting go and him getting lost or hurt so if I ever feel insecure I hop off and lead for a bit rather than risk falling (silly, but there you are). So this morning I got to the yard at 7 to avoid the heat and off we toddled, me determined to ride a different route, through the woods and fields and back along a different bit of road. Che is a horse who feeds off rider confidence as when he is in new places this is when he is at his most jumpy, waiting for something to "come and get him" As there was not a soul in sight I indulged in a bit of singing, had a long chat with him about the pros and cons of wearing a body protector when its hot (we both decided I should) and had a lovely time. Got back to the yard, shared a bucket of water for a quick rub down and he is now dozing under his trees and Im eating breakfast. So, thanks to Benpony and many others who have shared their stories on here, Im glad Im not the only one who struggles sometimes and reading your stories helps to get things into perspective:)

Bless sounds like a nice peaceful ride, I with you there, My worse fear when our hacking is losing my horse or him getting hurt.
