I admit it - a guilty pleasure of mine is watching Elphick Event Ponies from time to time. I was watching her latest video - a lesson with a dressage instructor called Richard. She's cantering round and round in a circle and his instruction from time to time to her is to "supple". I'm not sure that I would know what he wanted from that. I would like my horse to BE supple, obviously, but not sure what I would do while cantering in a circle to achieve supple. Can anyone enlighten me??

It was used in the most basic way for what she needs to show in low level tests, IE bend. The part where she flexes her a bit inside and outside helps to make the horse more laterally supple so it’s just a reminder to her to do that

Oh I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I started riding in the 70s with only a handful of lessons and no pony club, so find instructors' language hard to decode as I've missed out the early building blocks. Nowadays, I have the courage to ask if I don't understand.
