I'm going to need to claim on my insurance, I've got the first bill but treatment is still on going as we haven't got to the bottom of it yet, do I need to inform my insurance company now that I'll be making a claim or do I wait till I've got the final amount?
Any other info would be useful as its the first time I've had to do this!

You should really have informed them as soon as you knew treatment was required so that they could open the claim. Your policy paperwork should give details of how to make a claim, or at least a phone number to ring for advice.

Yes inform them now and then just keep sending the vet bills as and when you get them and they will keep paying up to your financial or time limit. If its NFU they will send you a claim form to fill in or can take details over the phone and they will deal directly with the vets, including paying their bills you just need to pay the excess. The claim will be active from when you first noticed a problem/first vet visit so if you are covered for 1 year of treatments (which is usual) it will start from the date of the first vet visit/first time you noticed a problem. Give them a ring and they will explain what you have to do.
