I was talking to a friend on the yard the other day and commented on the fact that she's got the new POLITE hi viz kit.

She said that she always wore hi viz anyway as it was a requirement of her insurance.

Anyone else heard this?

Yes

It all depends on the interpretation of the law but you do need to show that you did everything in your power to prevent an accident from happening and Hi Viz is a proven preventative measure and a visual aid in search and rescue... no excuse really not to wear it now as there are so many different designs :)

I was told yesterday that within the next two years Insurance companies will make it mandatory to wear hi vis whilst hacking on the roads. Not only that but the hi vis items must be certified (similar to riding hats) so I'm guessing that anyone involved in an accident without will not be covered.
