Hi all
I am in the process of purchasing a new horse. I rang an insurance company and they said they won't quote for a horse over £5k without a 5 stage vetting. I had only planned on 2 stage, the horse is 6,he had a full vetting in July and I have been sent the report.
Has anyone found an insurance company that will insure without the 5 stage? is this going to cause me an issue if I change insurers in the future?
Insurance is such a mind field at the best of times any advice would be great thanks

I don’t think you will find any companies that will insure over £5k without a 5 stage vetting. So yes if you change insurers you will probably find the same issue. A 5 stage isn’t that much more expensive so probably easier just to do it. I think any vetting has to be done within 30 days for the insurance company to accept it.

Its a pretty standard thing. But hasn't been up dated since the days when a 5k horse was an expensive one. I doubt it will change. As Kamikaze said its probably easier to just get the 5 stage done, plus its peace of mind for you.

It general insurance practice that you will need a 5 stage vetting at a certain price level (although I’m always a bit bemused by that, the cheapos getting passed around are just if not more likely to be veterinary/insurance nightmares!)
