does anyone have any good experiences with any particular insurance companies? i want to get my horse insured for vet fees and public liability but not sure who to go with as everyone seems to go for different people. so far ive had KBIS and E&L reccomended although my friend did say she had heard that E&L are a nightmare for paying out. my cheapest quote has been from pet plan though they have the highest excess to pay.

Strange really as this morning I recieved my insurance renewal in the post, so I had a quick phone round as my premium had gone up slightly and found that actually my insurance company AIMS was still the best one around.

I initially phoned them as a friend has used them for years and when her tack got stolen from a large yard she was one of the first to be paid out too.

Give them a ring they might surprise you with the quote they can give you

Good Luck!

We're with SEIB who have always been great and quite competative price wise. But there have been really good things said on the forum about NFU so I'm going to check them out as well come renewal. KBIS came out really expensive for us.

i've just done a few quotes and KBIS were one of the highest bu by not alot as i need a low excess. will give nfu a ring as i have heard that they are good and cheaper. spoke to other people at yard this morning and they all said avoid E&L like the plage!!!

I was tittering on a change of insurance companies a couple of weeks back but after last week my mare had an injury which incurred at £900 vet bill I am glad I stuck with Scottish Equestrian since my vet told me that if I was insured with E & L (who I was considering changing to) I would have had to pay the bill then try to get the money back from them myself, with any of the other companies they claim direct themselves and all I had to pay was £140 excess.

has anyone heard of animal friends or horse-insurance.co.uk? they both came up with cheap quotes. the latter was £18 a month! just wondered what you know thanks

I'm sure people have mentioned on here that horse-insurance are the online branch of everybody's most hated!

At the end of the day remember always you get what you pay for! Often those with the cheapest premiums are cheapest because they don't pay out very often!

Scottish Equine have been fantastic with my girl this year. She has had 2 MRI scans on her leg. If I was with NFU they would have made me pay half of each scan which would have been £500 for each scan. The scan was over £1000 for each one.
Scottish Equine have the same underwritters as Petplan but there cheaper!!

E&L paid out for me twice!! I did have to ring them alot though but they did pay.
