After setting up new vets fees insurance (after having just third party for the last year) I've just got my policy documents through and am baffled though not suprised . First I had to chase them so it is now three weeks since the insurance started and out of the 14 day cooling off period and secondly they have included a (imo) stupid exclusion.

In summer 2008 beastie had an abcess in her foot. It was just after I bought her with crappy feet so to some degree to be expected. It was a one off, she has never had one since. It cost less than £80 so wasn't an insurance job just a bit of bute and nearly an x ray (she was feeling very sorry for herself). It was nothing major in the grand scheme of things but thought I'd best tell insurance company so they couldn't wiggle out of other things because I'd not told them.

Anyway, the policy documents came today and have excluded solar abcesses in that foot. It was a one off 4 years ago and came out if her coronet band anyway :p Would you argue the point or just leave it? I think I know what I'm going to do just wanted a few opinions :D

Chocolate cake to all who got this far :D

Ring the company, ahd explain it all. Request they contact the underwriter over it as it is not likely to recur, and you'd like it lifted. I did just this over an accident our mare had,and the exclusion was successfully lifted.

Thanks everyone:D I will ring them and see what they say. Don't think I'll bother though if they want a letter from the vet. Seems like more hassle than it's worth then, when as you say BHW I'll probably not claim if she ever had another anyway :)
