Wont mention the name of the company but i have had my mare insured with the same company for 6 yrs.
3 yrs ago my darling mare went down with colic-non surgical and under £1000 so after a year got that removed as an exculsion.
Literally a month later had a horric field accident and lacerated her fetlock-mm away from the joint capsual.
Two months later did a high suspensory ligamemt

and was off for 6 months.

Was always expecting that after all these claims to have exculsions for the fetlock and DEFINATELY the high suspensory,
HOWEVER shock

Has this ever happened to anyone else?????? Or are all those hours writing letters as per the vet to trya dn get things lifted paid off?????

My horse did his Deep digital flexor tendons in both forelegs 4 years ago had extensive investigations and ran up a nice bill in the process, had 6 months box rest and since has come back into work and not had a problem since (touch wood!).
As expected he had exclusions on his digital flexors, but they also whacked on exclusions for ALL ligaments and tendons in both forelegs!

So I wrote a letter recently to the insurers asking them to review it since he has had no problems since but they wont remove the exclusions!

Not for you, but it would be worth getting your vet to write to them.

BTW it's very encouraging to hear of a total recovery from DDFT injuries. A couple of people on here have recently been going through major stress with horses who have damaged their DDFT, and the prognosis is usually poor. I hope they find this thread to give them a bit of hope.
