I've decided definitely to get our kitten insured and have got a few quotes online.
The biggest vets bills outside of horses I've known have been for cats so better safe that sorry.
Obviously the kitten when it arrives will be too young to neuter but will be done asap. I'd like to pay the years premiums in one go so its done and safe. Do i put yes or no to the neutering question? Does it make much difference to a quote? Is it best maybe to pay monthly as an un-neutered cat until s/he's done than pay a year if they adjust the premium?
Am i over thinking?

I spoke to Tesco about this and they weren't bothered about neutering when they were kittens-I just ticked the right box at renewal but they were insured before neutering. most cats arent really that out and about much before neutering anyway if they are done at ~ 6 months. They said it didnt make any difference to the premium.

I’m with tescos for the cat we inherited, he had enucleation just after we got him, which wasn’t covered anyway as pre existing, but everything else including other eye covered. He has problems in his remaining eye and tescos have paid out for everything with no hassle. This problem is lifelong and is covered for life. Premium only went up by something like 50p a month which is nothing considering the drops he needs which only last a month cost £50 odd a tube.
Excess is reasonable too at £55 per condition per year. Overall I am very happy with them.
