Got our lab pup last Saturday. She was 9 weeks old on 24th August. We are looking for a good deal on insurance for her. We currently have our other dog insured with e and L (along with horse and trailer) and the cats are with direct line. She is hopefully going to be a gun dog. Can anyone suggest a resoable insurance company? We have been advised to get life time cover rather than anual (which our other dog has). Any advice appreciated.

Firstly personally I would be looking for a different insurance company for your others!
Do not like E & L at all!

Vets have now started promote petplan but there cover does not seem massive to me, though it was late at night when I looked at it!
Alot of people like M & S?

Sorry not much use to you!

Ditto this!!

I would highly recommend NFU. They are been brilliant with all my horsey claims (which is more than I can say for Petplan ) and will do lifetime cover for dogs. You will also get a discount if you have more than one policy with them (I have both horse and dog). :)

Thats good to know. I never thoght of them for dog insurance. All farmers use them round here!
I shall have a look as looking myself!

Thank you for your replies. I think I will look into NFU as we have a local office and I could perhaps transfer everything to them if its a good deal, thanks again!!

Run away from E&L immediately!

I can highly recommend NFU, too-used them for the old boy and they are great at doing everything for you and sorting out payments etc.

Just insured our 2 pups with Direct Line-cheapest, highest vet's cover and no time limits on claims.

NFU wont cover a working dog on their permanent health cover, although you can still get the standard policy which covers up to 12 months from date of occurrence up to the limit of your vet fees.
