Hi were taking on a long term tenancy on some land, were going to be putting stables on it and using it for private use only.

Our horses are insured for public liability, but been advised to get insurance incase someone hurts themselves on our land? Anyone else have this? Any idea of cost?

There are no public rights of way through the land, I suppose the only 'outside' people who will be on it is when wen have deliveries etc.

Any ideas??

You may well be able to extend your home & contents insurance to cover the land. Public liability is a standard inclusion on household policies so shouldn't be too expensive to extend the cover.

Zurich offer a stand alone PL policy too so worth contacting them if no joy with the above. From memory I believe this policy was approx £200 per year.

I use NFU for the land. Make quite sure that your 3rd Party Public Liability cover is no less than £10,000,000 as many policies do not provide this level of cover. (Gold BHS membership provides cover to this level). A recent court case demonstrated that this level was necessary.
