I sometimes ride other peoples horses, as Im now self employed I'm a bit worried that if I got injured it would stop me working. Is there some kind of insurance to help cover this? Does BHS membership offer it at all?

I would have a look at the BHS gold membership - as well as 3rd party insurance, I believe it also offers personal accident cover.

Metlife do personal insurance specifically for horse riders, my husband who is a work rider is on it and sadly has had to claim a few times with no issues on pay out.

I pretty sure BHS gold membership does not cover you if you're paid.
If not it does have a bit of accident cover but does not cover broken limbs and things so I domt think it would be good enough cover for you.

BHS gold cover would not cover you in such a circumstance .
It does I think have some accident cover but only in the worse circunmtances ie the loss of limb , blindness that sort of thing but it's not alotof money.
I had an accident policy which I started in my late teens it did not pay out when I broke my leg and needed five years of surgerys.
You can of course get this sort of cover but as riding is high risk I think it will cost a fair bit but you are sensible to think about it.
