My trailer is insured at the moment on the tow vehicle policy with NFU. I can get insurance for the vehicle for half the NFU price elsewhere, but the insurers don't want to cover the trailer. On the horse insurance it would be £141 per year, which I don't think is too horrendous, but wondered if anyone else has a different strategy?

Hi, we insure our trailer seperately, think it's with a company called Stoneways. We pay about £130 per year and the trailer is only 2 years old. Shop around there are quite a few companies that will just insure a trailer.

I have my trailer insured with the same company that do my horse insurance, Amtrust Equine. It is insured for theft etc and I think I pay about £100 a year. I separate breakdown cover from the Assoc. of Horsebox and Trailer Owners which costs me £70 pa.

That is odd, I insure with NFU, and I just changed my car so I have a new policy and when I added the trailer, the charge was minimal, in fact they made a point that it was cheaper insuring it that way.
