My renewal with NFU is coming up and although no claims based on reports on here expect it go up so in preparation shopping around. Have quotes from KBIS and Amtrust both of which seem comparable on cover and level of fees, excess etc and are cheaper than what i paid NFU last year

However Amtrust are about £71 cheaper on their quote which is alot so wanted to know peoples opinions on both. I would prefer to pay extra to get better service etc or are AmTrust just as good as KBIS and do i go with the cheaper quote.

Also on thier online quotes system it doesnt ask for previous claims history. Horse is insured for nominal amount as its the vets fees cover i want.

Any other company recommendations.

I moved to KBIS last year after my NFU premium went through the roof. Unfortunately my boy has just been diagnosed with RAO and so far KBIS have been brilliant, we are already over £1000 for the endoscopy and drugs he's had to have and KBIS have paid my vet direct, usually within about 48 hrs of them sending the invoice :)

Interested in this post, I have just had my renewal through from NFU (Saturday) and it has hardly gone up at all - I am insured for trailer, vets fees and 800 loss of horse (nominal amount as had to have something to get vets fees) was plesantly suprised but will look at KBIS for comparison

KBIS all the way. I now have my 2 horses and horsebox with KBIS. They are so helpful and reasonable prices. I had to make a claim for my young boy and they have been fab. Every time i had a query and contacted them they always asked after my boy and how he was etc and then sorted problems asap, calling me back as soon as solved (if it couldnt be done instantly).

AmTrust are brilliant - I swapped to them from KBIS because of the ridiculous exclusions KBIS wanted to put on my horse. I submitted a claim on 20th December to AmTrust and the money was in my bank account before Christmas! KBIS were also good at paying out, but they put such outrageous exclusions on I had no justification for staying with them.

No experience of Amtrust but KBIS were fabulous when we lost one 18 months ago - very kind on the phone, paid up (what little there was to pay) and then refunded me some money as well from my premium without me asking. They sent a little condolence card thing as well which is lots more than Pet Plan ever did. They have been very good at paying out for the youngster too - no hassles and paid up quickly. Recommend them:)

Amtrust are great. They assessed my current (ongoing) claim quickly once the vets finally sent the correct info and paid the vet directly to their bank account on the same day. My vet sends invoices directly to them, they pay the vet on the same day. They're not the cheapest out there but they pay out so no complaints here. Good to deal with on the phone, knowledgeable and understanding. Plus their exclusions are reasonable IMHO... my horse has ringbone and spavins. Rather than exclude completely the affected legs, they excluded "arthritis". I'd rather the latter than have three legs excluded (vet told me to expect it would probably be complete legs excluded).

A thumbs up for Amtrust from me :)
