Insurance - Howden (A Plan) - anyone had experience of? :)

That old question - Insurance! Renewal gone up £300 this year despite no claims etc. Howden Insurance (formerly A Plan) gave a fairly competitive quote with Convex. Has anyone had any experience of dealing with them? Seems anything else quoting cheaper, then require a vetting, which would then equal the original quote! Agria looked ok but want a vetting if you request theft, plus the 25% on top of the excess makes it ouchy! Thanks :)
 
We have them for our fleet insurance so not the same thing, but have always found them helpful. We’ve had a few claims too and apart from the initial call to them, we didn’t have to do anything.
 
Use them at work, and have used them for 8+? Years. Were/are the brokers for the CLA insurance.

Do land/property/vehicles/fleet cover/hired-in plant etc, have taken over various smaller offices and hence also do some travel/single motor cover. V competitive in our sector
 
I have used Howden/A-Plan for at least 20 years. However, I still use the office near the place where I used to live as I found it more helpful and efficient than the one closer to me now. Very good when I had a claim.
 
Would not use them for horsebox breakdown!! We had a terrible experience when ours broke down...they tried to say the policy didn't exist...was stranded for hours...eventually had to pay over £300 on the spot to get them to recover us and waited 8hrs for a tow. They then admitted it was their admin error and refunded us the money...but it was absolutely dreadful!

I've been with them for 3 years. Always very helpful on the phone but never had to claim, so no experience there...
