I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on insurance, as after reading so many posts where people seem to get 'let down' by their insurers, I wonder whether I am in the minority by fighting 'til the bitter end to get my money back.....

Last year my insurers refused to pay out after accepting 2 claims on my horse, and after giving me permission to use a certain vet for a second opinion....their reason, they had pre-existing issues with that vet. After doing a formal complaint and getting the financial ombudsman involved, I got my money back, and the reassurance from the ombudsman that the way they had handled my claims was quite frankly appalling.

Soooo.....

It would depend on why the claim was rejected - if I was obviously in the wrong / clear exclusion then yes I'd probably accept their decision & chalk it up to experience but otherwise I would question it.
