This is for someone i know on the yard so bear with me!

This person got a vet out to their horse who diagnosed a problem. Insurance company was told and agreed to pay out for treatment which is pending.

Now this person doesnt fully trust what the vet has said and wants a second opinion from another vet. How do insurance companies feel about this?

Would it affect the claim? Would the insurance company pay for a second opinion from another vet?

Answers greatfully received

Thanks

Can't imagine it would have any affect on a claim at all. Second opinion consultations are quite a regular occurance I would have thought.

But yes, she needs to speak with the insurance company to let them know what she's thinking.

I changed vets because my first vet was away with the fairys. I had a quick word with the insurance folk first, I had to send a letter just to outline why I was changing vets and they were fine it all got sorted out with no problems.
