Hello
grin.gif

Recently I posted about telling my insurance my horses had moved yards when I brought them home in December and that they have phoned me up asking me loads of questions about the yard, security, turn out etc and wondered if anyone else lets their insurance know when they are moving. I didnt get any responses

So...........do you let your insurance know and if you dont does it void your insurance?

And secondly, today having a look on project horses and there is one on there which states the owner started to back the horse and had some issues. The vet recommended having a scan done (didnt specify what sort of scan) and when she spoke to her insurance they said it was now void as she hadnt notified them she was starting to back the horse.

Anyone else heard of this? Do you notify your insurance when you start to back youngsters?

mmm Well I've only ever had one insurance company ask me where my horse is kept!!! I would query the youngster policy.. If she took out a policy with class of use just grazing, stable etc etc not ridden then this maybe why she couldn't claim as she was doing more than the horse was insured for. If the horse was insured for ridden work etc then I can't see why you would need to notify them of backing it..

Nope I've never had to tell the insurers where my horse is kept - I tell them anyway but they realise that some poeple just have a field which doesn't have an address and have never been bothered at keeping that information.

I've never heard of having to let insurers know when you back them or anything...only if you were upping the level of competition you were competing at.

hmmm sounds peculiar - is it with a horse specific insureres? (or have tescos branched out again to do horse insurance as well as evereything else!!!)

I've never heard of letting know you are backing a youngster either, but thought I would check I wasnt missing something.

Hadnt thought about the policy only being for a horse that wasnt used before though. That could well be the reason.

Always let my insurance know about moving my horses, but this was the first time they'd asked me loads of questions.

Have no idea what insurance company she was using or what she was insured for. Havent contacted her, just read her advert and it made me wonder.....
