I have nearly had a fit when I got my new insurance quote and I'm not sure if its just because I am living in cloud cuckoo land or if it really is expensive.

I know the insurance debate has been done to death but how much roughly would you expect to pay for a 15.2 8 year old cob gelding who just does hacking and riding club activities.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

It will depend on the value of the horse and what covers you have - most insurance policies are rated at a % on the sum insured of the horse then your additional cover (vets fees etc) are generall at set premiums dependant on cover so will be added to your base premium. Say Sum Insured £2000 @ £4.25% = £85.00 plus vets fees (say at £200) = £285.00. That's just an example of how it's calculated - obviously I have no idea of what rates are applied to your insurance but you see the idea.
