Insurance quotes?

I have just phoned insurance company for a quote and was hoping to get it set up more or less straight away.

I gave all details about Jed and what cover i want and they said they would call back with a quote

. Dont they deal with this all day every day? So in theory they should be able to give me a quote straight away?

If you have had past claims they have to speak to the underwriter first.

Also depends on the insurance co. You can get a quote on-line with pet plan but can't remember if the cover starts immediately if you want it to.

Quite a lot get back to you with quotes rather than telling you a figure over the phone because they want to provide full policy details/conditions with the figure they have provided to avoide any mis understanding, plus they may have to consult their underwriter and may need to state that they require a vets cert etc...all sorts of reasons, but they usually come back to with an hour or so.
