Hello

Looking to see if there's any recommended insurance companies for a youngster? Rising 2 so not broken yet. It's been a while since I've insured for vet treatment, my other guy is 21 now and exempt so I have a little savings pot for him should he require it. I have liability etc with BHS.

Many thanks

I used to insure my horses from foals with NFU. Now they are in their late teens they are not insured but I do put money aside each month to cover vet bills.

It really depends what you want covered and how much you would want to intervene on an unbroken/unproven horse.

FWIW my horses have been insured on the KBIS catastrophe cover for £300/year until backed and looking useful enough. This covers external injury and colic.

They have now all transitioned onto full insurance with Insurance Emporium - I tried them out with a horse and a dog, both have had claims which were well dealt with so now all my insurance is with them. They are good value.

Just realised they don’t cover competition abroad so might need to rethink the main man next year as I suspect he will need overseas cover
