Hi there, hoping for some advice. We've always insured the daughter's ponies with Insurance Emporium who have been fine, but we are in the process of moving her up to a horse for her to event, and this time we are paying more than £15k. IE have said they only insure horses less than <£15k and they won't allow me to insure for £15k and risk the rest, insurance value must match the purchase price apparently.

So before I start ringing around them all or battling with the online firms to be told no, I'm looking for advice on companies that will insure horses between £15-20k please.

Thank you!

How weird, I under insure all of mine with IE

That aside, all the big names should (plus check your BE membership for discount codes).
Agria, KBIS, NFU, PetPlan, Shearwater

Most the big names will, and will consider under insuring especially if it’s just vets fees you’re covering. There’s specialist insurers for the real pricey ones but you shouldn’t need to go down that route in that price bracket. I don’t envy you, the maths barely breaks even these days…!

I'm really surprised about Insurance Emporium as up to 20K is quite standard these days for a horse expected to compete.

I am with IE now, but have also used Pet Plan, NFU and KBIS before. Beware, they are a lot more expensive.

When I was calling around for insurance quotes for my current horse I called Lycetts, they were very polite but subtly suggested I may not be their typical customer (horse cost less than £3k 🤣)
