I want to change insurance company: currently with PetPlan Equine on their High Excess policy but want to switch to one with a normal excess - PetPlan say I'd have to pay for a vetting, and I've not heard brilliant things about them anyway so time for a change.

I don't want to have to pay for a vetting when I switch to a different company. Definitely want insurance for vet fees but not too bothered about insuring for LOU. Needs to be good value, I can't afford expensive insurance.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Nfu have been with them for about 6 years and this year had two big claims have paid out both times within two weeks of them getting claim form, couldnt recommend them high enough.

I was with SEIB for a year but they put their prices up by a lot so I switched to NFU Mutual. Had a claim with them this summer for a field injury and they were great, paid up really quickly and even told me I could claim for additional costs of having pony on box rest.

would def recommend.

I insure with NFU - they may not be the cheapest but they have paid up very quickly without any problems whatsoever on two injuries (on different horses) that need many vet visits, stitches, dressings etc.

I would not use anybody else now. Plus when I renewed, they didn't hike my premiuims up because I had claimed.

Amtrust Equine - a friend of mine had to make two claims within a month of getting her new horse and they paid up no problem. They're reasonable as well.

Stoneways. I've got nothing but good to say about them. Helpful, friendly & good with claims. A friend who insures with them also agrees.

Equestrian Direct or AmTrust Equine. Both at the cheaper end of the market and pay out nicely. Vet cert not required for horses under £5000 value as long as you don't want LOU.

KBIS fantastic, had vets paid by return of post and i got a photocopy of the cheque. EXxcellent friendly service, didnt need vetting doing either PLUS they paid out less than a month after taking policy out - NO PROBLEMS - have renewed my policy with them this year!!!!!!!!!!

NFU asked me for a vet cert. They are very good though. I've always had my horses with Equestrian Direct, both when they used to be underwritten by AmTrust and now they've split. They've always been absolutely fab, I've had big claims with both horses and they couldn't do enough to help with either. I'll be sticking with them in future too.
