insurance recommendations

due to an enormous premium hike I was wondering if anyone could please recommend an insurance company please. Dog is 8yo and has a preexisting skin condition (fine with that being excluded). Currently with KC. I think Petplan will only insure him on Essential due to age? How realistic is that cover? (£3K per condition for one year).

Hello there, I would comment that pet insurance is a minefield.!!
Have a look at the "Which" website - they have some very useful info.
I would always be very wary of swapping insurance - esp with your pet being over 8 yrs old. I have known people swap insurance companies and bitterly regret it. The conditions that KC have applied are common throughout the pet insurance world. If I were in your shoes, I would be tempted to stick with your present insurer.. BTW, I speak from other people's experiences and have no vested interest in any insurance company providing pet insurance cover.

thanks for the info-I wouldn't normally consider it but my premiums have gone up from £65 to £105 per month :0

Have a look at vets medical. I'm going to use them for my new puppy.

Mine are insured with AXA, £7k cover and they recently paid out £6k in fees for my old girlie no problem. I think £3k is not nearly enough, an MRI can cost that alone or surgery to repair a broken leg etc. So far the premiums for all 3 of mine have only gone up a little each year.
