I have a pony who is insured with Pet Plan Equine and have a 7 month old foal arriving at the end of the month who will need insuring asap (he's cost a small fortune!)

I've never *touch wood* had to put a claim in with Pet Plan so of course, I've never had any problems! I quite like the idea of having them both with the same company just to make life easier but are they the best company to go with as I have heard a fair few negative comments in the past.

Who is everybody insured with and who would you recommend?

I know there are probably topics lurking about this but wouldn't mind some updated and recent opinions :-)

Thank you!

Both of mine are insured with Petplan mainly because I've claimed from them in the past for my cats with no problem

Of course that doesn't mean they are good with equine claims but I had to base my choice on something!

My 18 month old colt is insured in their lowest 'activity' category but with the normal cover apart from that and it's just shy of £11 a month

Petplan have a good reputation but I think the only downside is I don't think they do multi-horse policies so you have to have separate policies for each horse (unless they have changed how they work now). I also don't think they give discounts if you have more than one horse whereas other insurers will generally put all your horses on the same policy if you want. This can save you on admin fee charges as a lot of companies charge these now per policy and this can be anything but is normally about £20 or so. If all horses are on one policy you just pay one £20 admin fee.

I would check with Petplan if you can do it and then maybe have a shop around with other companies and see what their options are.
