As I'm self employed and have a mortgage etc. I've decided to grow up and organise some personal insurance - just in case I get ill or have an accident etc.

I am a GOLD BHS member - which gives a little cover for extreme accidents (i.e. losing a limb etc. ) but realistically it won't pay the bills. So just had a chat with a broker to explain my situation and ended up even more confused about what I need!! He's off to do his job but in the meantine - if you don't mind - can I ask what insurance you have for yourself...

Erm, I was going to post on here RE: insurance too! I want 3rd party for my horse that I am getting on loan this week(dont need vets fees/loss as he had a loss of use payout) and then want me covered. Will BHS GOLD cover that?? That was all I was planning on getting....

There are a few different types of insurances that cover different things, depending in whet you want:

You have:-

Life Insurance (which covers you x-amount should you die and is paid to your next of kin)

Dependants (if you have any, and usually goes hand in hand with the life insurance, so that any dependants you may have will get money until they leave full time education)

Critical Illness - Covers you financially should you fall so ill that you cannot work anymore

Critical Accident - As above, but as a result of an accident

Also, make sure that your broker is a fully independant one, to get the best deals to suit your needs

Hope that helps.......
