My pony is currently insured through SEIB as they are the only company that assured me straight away that they insure riders of any age - my son is 3yrs. As my son isnt riding our pony now iv been getting quotes elsewhere and petplan come out reasonable for the cover iv chosen.

Anyone had dealings/claims with them - good or bad?

I have found them good to deal with and I have had very many claims in recent years. Vets like to deal with them as they know they will get paid! Your vet will submit the form on your behalf so apart from the excess, you don't even have to write a cheque.

yep - can report good claims history for Petplan.

NFU are also reputed to be good.

Also Shearwater... but think they are more competition horse based...

Have had no probs with Petplan.
Petplan and NFU are the only two insurance companies our vets will apparently wait for cheques as know they will get paid.
If you use others they expect you to pay then claim back from insurance co.(don't know if they actually stick to this but they sent letters stating that.)

Yep, thoroughly recommend petplan

I was with them for 2 years, dd not have to make any claims but every year the renewal increased substantially. This year it had gone up by an extra £100 for no reason, when I phoned them they said that they were putting them up for everyone with no explanation. I am now with AmTrust equine and have the same policy details but for £150 less. PetPlan have a good reputation for paying out but are notoriously expensive - shop around.
