Does anyone know of anywhere that does monthly horse insurance? I know most places offer the pay monthly scheme, but I dont really want to get into one of these because its still a 12month contract and he'll be for sale in the spring

I pay monthly with NFU and when I've sold a horse, they've stopped the policy when I asked and even refunded me when the pony I had insured died. I thought they would charge for the rest of the year as I'd made a claim but they didn't. So, even if you have a 12 month contract, that doesn't necessarily tie you to paying for the whole year if circumstances change. Not sure whatt other companies do tho.

Agree with this - I've done the same thing and just stopped the policy.

You can take out a 12 mth policy but beware if you cancel within the first year of insurance as you are likley to be charged a short term cancellation fee (time on risk charge) which may be higher (ie a percentage) as opposed to a pro rata return had you cancelled after a renewal date. That is what our company do as standard as you've effectively you've entered into a contract for the 12 mths so are penalised for cancelling within the first 12.

Check the policy terms and cancellation charges before you agree to anything!

I know of one company that do do monthly policies but I wouldn't advise going with them so everyone probably knows what company I mean!
