Hi all. Just wondered who you insured your horses with? My current insurer has told me today when I phoned to renew, that I will need a 5 stage vet cert before they will insure Blue! Is this standard across the board?

Thanks

Aud

That's a bit strange they would ask for a vet cert at renewal - me thinks they shall lose many policyholders by doing that! Maybe they are trying to reduce their losses and only have horses on cover under £2500? Seems a very odd thing to do. We ask for a health declaration to be completed at a renewal if a horse is over a certain value (£7500) but would not ask for a new veterinary certificate unless we had specific reasons on a policy. Very strange.

That's what I thought too. But the company has recently been re-structured and now owned by the insurance provider that used to underwrite their policies, so I suspect that might be what has changed. Have a few quotes from other providers that don't need vet vert. I don't have anything to hide but do feel a bit put out that I have had this horse insured with them for the last 4 years!

And never had a claim!

It's not KBIS/British Equestrian or South Essex is it? I think there are some strange goings on at the moment to be honest as we are finding alot of people's premiums are shotting up for no apparent reason either.
