Hi chaps - hope you're well on this very blustery Sunday,

Im looking at insuring a new horse and wondered if any of you had any good, bad experiences, recommendations to pass on. Would welcome them before I commit to one company. Thanks all.

NFU Definately, firstly because they have paid out without any problems for our first claim and are going ahead with a second claim for the same horse (different problem and much more expensive - ovary removal at Rossdales) its been very straightforward.

I also use them for home insurance, company insurance and landy insurance. It hasn't just been the cheapest but best levels of cover with reasonable excesses too.

NFU without a doubt....they are really good at paying out (although waiting confirmation of a new claim as we speak!)

We have always used and recommeded AmTrust Equine Insurance 08453 313080 they are very good on price and pay up without fuss, We have a Vet Practice and never have any hassle with them when helping clients with claims. One company you really need to avoid no matter how much cheaper they are on price is the company that puts flyers in all the horse mags and have an E & L in their name!!!! Be warned!

KBIS all the way. Petplan argued about paying out when I had my eventer put down and they made a horrible situation a lot worse. NFU are great but expensive and they put too many exclusions on my horse. KBIS have been brilliant and recently paid out £5000 for a ligament injury. All of the above of course is only my experience.
