I am just about to renew my dog's insurance and PetPlan want a 50% increase in the premium !!! We haven't made any claims and they are saying the increase is because we received a discount as a result of the introduction made by our breeder plus an additional discount because I insure my horse with PetPlan. I am a bit taken aback by the increase (to nearly 400) and am not prepared to stick with PetPlan on that basis. I just can't justify that sort of cost for dog insurance, I'm afraid.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions of who to steer clear of? I was thinking about NFU, More Than and M&S but am open to suggestion. I've had a couple of quotes and they are much more reasonable but I just wanted to try & avoid a bad experience if at all possible.

Thank you!

Both our horses are with NFU and we have every intention of putting Chloe with them when we bring her home.

Mike always says that NFU are marginally more expensive, but extremely helpful and always pay out. They've definitely been really great with our two, and we're hoping they will be for the dog as well.

No idea about the others though!! xxxx

Thanks for that - I've also heard good things about NFU from a friend who insures her horse with them.

Thanks for responding.

I have one of my horses and my dog with NFU.

They gave me a discount when I insured the dog as I mentioned that I had the policy with my horse. I'm claiming for my horse at the moment and having spoken to them yesterday I must say they are being absolutely fab
