Insuring a mobile shelter

Has anyone got insurance on a mobile shelter. Its not on my land which complicates things. Its a new one and it was not cheap! Is there any way I can insure it?

Out of interest, what do you want to insure it for? Blowing over and getting damaged?

yes. mainly damage by wind storms etc. it was fairly expensive and is sturdy but if winds high enough I guess it would get damaged.

Probably expensive to insure and not worth it - is it fire or theft you are worried about?

I really can’t imagine what would happen to it, if it was expensive then presumably it is pretty solid so unlikely to blow away. Not being on your land will complicate things further - does the landowner have insurance? I think you would end up paying, possibly a lot, for something that is on the very far end of likelihood,

Some of the smallholders insurance companies will insure them (if you are already - or going to be - insured for the plot with them) but only if they are permanent ones or if mobile are on metal skids and away from any possible tree damage.

They might not insure for wind damage. I am sure our household insurance didn't cover storm damage to our fences.

Mine was blown to pieces in the big storm last Feb and the insurers paid out - but it's my land. Cliverton are the brokers I use.
