your insurance should cover the vets fees but 3rd party and Personal accident wont be covered whilst on the riding school as will need to come under the schools own insurance,,, also any saddlery wont be covered for damage whilst used on the Riding school.... but ring your insurance company as there terms may be different
Cool, thanks guys. Probably a stupid question but i've never had a horse on working livery before so no idea who is meant to pay what etc! Will get investigating!
Ourworking liveries ahd their own normal insurance, and then were covered under the riding school policy for lessons (3rd party etc).
If you are considering working livery I suggest you also ensure that you have an agreement over who pays what if the horse is injured or worse in a lesson - especially as it relates to who pays the excess. Also ensure it is laid out what happens cost wise if the horse cannot be used in a lesson because of injury or illness (whether caused during a lesson or otherwise).
Every policy is different tho - yours might stipulate that the horse cannot be used for hire or reward (which working livery is) but often, if you speak to them, and explain what it is you want to do, they will change the policy at no or nominal cost for normal riding school activities (although if they do XC lessons you may incur extra costs).
